Acne, although most common among teenagers, can affect anyone at any age. It is a skin condition which is caused when excess oil production causes the skin pores to clog. This blockage coupled with the skin's naturally produced oils allows a harmless bacterium called Cutibacterium acnes to flourish and results in inflammation and spots.
Acne spots are of different types - blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.
Mr.H has been battling moderate-severe acne since his teenage years. In the early years he had been to a skin specialist who had prescribed oral and topical medicines as a treatment. The dosage started high and was gradually reduced as the acne cleared. But it came back and has stayed since then, on and off, with the trigger being diet (consuming certain foods) and stress.
Acne-prone skin can be hard to look after but it can be controlled with proper treatment; be it oral medications or skincare products designed specifically for treating acne. There are a number of brands out there with products for treating and managing acne and one that we would like to share with you in this post is Salcura Natural Skin Therapy. They make highly effective and natural products for those suffering from allergic skin conditions. Their Antiac range has been especially designed for those with oily & acne prone skin and contains three products:
- Antiac Face Wash
- Antiac Liquid Spray
- Antiac Activ Gel Serum
Mr.H has been using these products for around 4 weeks now and here are his thoughts on the same.
Antiac Face Wash - With a mild, pleasant fragrance, this face wash is gentle and non irritating and works wonderfully well on acne-prone skin. It is good at controlling the oil levels without drying out the skin like some face washes tend to do. You need only a little product for each use and you can use it morning and evening to clear impurities off skin and to leave it feeling soft and thoroughly cleansed.
Key ingredients: Witch Hazel Leaf Extract, Sea Buckthorn Kernel Extract, Sunflower Seed Oil, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice Powder, Rosemary Leaf Extract.
Antiac Liquid Spray - This one is an intensive natural acne spray that has been formulated to deal with moderate to severe acne on the face & body. It is particularly great for hard to reach areas of acne, such as acne on the back but Mr.H has been using it on some really stubborn acne on his forehead. You need to spray the liquid on the desired area and let it sink into the skin. You can then gently massage it into the skin, if needed. The spray contains Antiac's unique and clinically proven ingredients Skinwell DFA and ZPA plus, both of which have been proven to significantly reduce symptoms associated with Acne, like spots, blemishes and blackheads.
Key ingredients: Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Calendula Extract, Matricaria Leaf Extract, Sea Buckthorn Kernel Extract, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Peppermint Oil, Sweet Orange Peel Oil, Eucalyptus Leaf Oil.
Antiac Activ Gel Serum - This one is a spot treatment that works to clear spots, nourish and moisturise the skin. The serum needs to be applied directly onto breakouts and continue the application until the spots or blemishes have disappeared. The serum contains the same clinically proven acne treatment ingredients Skinwell DFA and ZPA plus like the spray and helps to soothe the skin and support the skin back to health.
Key ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Grape See Oil, Sea Buckthorn Extract, Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Sweet Orange Peel Oil, Eucalyptus Leaf Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosemary Oil, Neroli Oil, Manuka Oil, Peppermint Oil.
This spray and the gel serum used in conjunction with the face wash (consistently for around 4 weeks now) have worked for Mr.H. Although the stubborn adult acne he has on his face has not disappeared completely, the products certainly have made a difference to the skin.
Overall, a great set of natural products that help treat acne, blackheads, whiteheads & blemishes.
You can find the Salcura Antiac range in Holland & Barrett and Amazon.
