I love the allure of scented candles. Somehow they seem to make a room more inviting; creating a more cosy atmosphere. There are so many candle brands out there with a wide range of scented candles. There are big brands that are quite popular and then there are smaller players and family run businesses who use traditional production and hand finishing techniques. One such brand is 'Best Kept Secrets' who are a family run business based in the town of Morpeth in Northumberland. In addition to candles they also sell natural handmade soaps and reed diffuser sets.
Today's post is about their candles. They have a range of candles called 'Seriously Scented' that are available in three formats - candles in tins, candles in glass and tea light candles. The Candle tins have a burn time of over 50 hours and are available in a number of fragrances like Angel (Honey & caramel with oriental spices), Classic Cotton (Crisp & clean bergamot, lemon, cyclamen & sandalwood), Freesia (Freshly picked freesias, combined with bergamot, tuberose & sandalwood), Gingerbread Cookie (Creamy caramel, mixed spices, ginger & rum) and Parma Violet (Violet, bay & ylang ylang) to name a few.
I was recently sent two fragrances from this collection - Lotus Blossom (a blend of bergamot, lychee & mandarin with base notes of caramel & vanilla) and Horizon Sky (Pear, melon & freesia with a musk & amber base). We burnt both the candles over the last few days to test their throw and fragrances and both the scents make the cut. Horizon Sky was lovely - floral and sweet. I think this would be a lovely candle to burn in the Autumn months. Lotus Bloom was the like the scent of Summer - beautiful and with a punchy dash of sweet caramel and vanilla. It kind of transports you to some exotic beach.
In terms of presentation, the candles come in a small aluminium tin with a simple label. While it may not score much points for the presentation, it sure appeals in terms of the fragrance (the key factor), the throw and the price. The tin candles are priced at an affordable £8.99 each and can be purchased from www.bestkeptsecrets.co.uk.
