In recent times, you would have probably seen a number of videos or posts about glossy charcoal masks. While charcoal is a good detoxifier, these peel-off masks can cause a lot more problems than you would imagine. And that is why I steered clear of them. However, I have not been missing out on the detoxifying benefits of Charcoal. I have been using Exuviance's Detox Mud Treatment which is a deep purifying mask and makes use of Japanese Binchotan Charcoal.
Formulated to instantly clarify and refine pores, Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment contains 23% active charcoal, French clay and a patented NeoGlucosamine blend among other ingredients and helps to remove debris and excess oil from the skin.
Key features of Exuviance Detox Mud Treatment
- Contains 23% Active Charcoal
- French clay helps absorb excess oil
- Contains NeoGlucosamine that boosts collagen production
- Suitable for all skin types
- Energises stressed skin
The mask is easy to use. Just apply a thin layer to cleansed skin leaving it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Considering it is a charcoal & clay mask I had expected the texture of the mask to be thick but I was surprised to notice the light-weight, silky texture. It is very easy to apply and equally easy to rinse it off. It dries after 10-15 minutes but doesn't crack nor causes any tight sensation. And the dried mask comes off very easily with warm water. And it leaves behind clean, clear and smooth skin. Skin feels firmer and soft to touch as well. I love it. The delicate and pleasing fragrance is a bonus too.
I have combination skin which tends to become a tad bit oily and prone to breakouts during my periods. And I have been using this detox mask at such times with very good effect. It does such a good job at removing the excess oil and impurities and leaving my skin smooth and refined. While the mask is suitable for all skin types, I think it would be the perfect detox mask for those with congested, oily or blemish-prone skin.
Note: Do not use a washcloth to remove the mask as it can stain linen.
