Smooth and easy to drink, the Classic Laddie whisky from Bruichladdich, was a revelation. This was the first time we were sampling Bruichladdich's whisky and were impressed. The Classic Laddie was particularly flavourful and brilliant. Thanks to Marc, from 31Dover, for recommending this to us.

When the package arrived from 31Dover, I was impressed with the packaging/presentation. The outer packaging was a beautiful gift box with 31Dover embossed on it. The whisky itself came packaged in an impressive frosty teal coloured bottle and box.
The whisky is different! Bruichladdich have tried something novel and in our opinion, they have succeeded at it. The whisky smells amazing - a little deceptively sweet initially and then giving way to a more complex scent - a bit of the salty seaside, some fruity notes and perhaps a mint note. It is smooth and has a warming burn which I love.
Now a few things that were different in The Classic Laddie - Even though it is 50% ABV, the whisky is soft. So, be sure not to add too much water. Secondly, there is no age statement on the bottle, so it probably a mix of aged and young whisky. And that could be the reason for the higher ABV, I am guessing. Finally, although it is unpeated, we could sense some smokiness in there. So like, I mentioned earlier, it is different but in a nice way.
On a final note, both I and Mr.H enjoyed the Classic Laddie. It is different but it is good and we were pleasantly surprised.

Crafted by master distiller Jim McEwan, this single malt Scotch whisky is matured for its entire life by the shores of Loch Indaal, thus showcasing the classic, floral and elegant Bruichladdich house style.
