We have been testing out some gear from Regatta over the past month and a half and we love it. The Regatta brand, I am sure, needs no introduction. They are one of the most popular brands for great outdoor products at affordable prices. Last month we went on an awesome holiday to Austria and it involved most of our time being spent outdoors, exploring the Austrian landscapes. From going up the Kitzsteinhorn to enjoying hiking trails on the Untersberg to visiting some wonderful waterfalls, we did it all. Considering the unpredictable nature of weather on most mountain terrains, I knew that we would need some really good weatherproof jackets and boots to make our outdoor excursions fun and comfortable. And when the opportunity arose to collaborate with Regatta, I was excited, to say the least. So without further ado, listed below are the products we tried and what we thought of them.
A pair of good, comfortable boots is an essential part of any walking kit. If you are going to do a lot of walking (and on different types of terrain) then a good pair of boots would be your best friend. Picking a pair of walking boots do deserve time and attention, after all, it is going to be an essential part of your outdoor adventure. Regatta helped us by picking the best walking boot for our adventure - the Samaris Mid Hiking Boots.
Regatta Men's Samaris Mid Hiking Boots
The Samaris Mid Hiking Boots with a streamlined, lightweight structure proved to be excellent hiking boots. The boots look well-made with endurance mesh uppers that are engineered with extra space around the toes to allow for natural movement on climbs. This is an excellent feature as Mr.H who needs extra room around the toes found them quite comfortable. The boots have 'Hydropel' technology that efficiently disperses mud and water and a waterproof/breathable Isotex membrane that keeps feet dry inside and out. Over the 6-7 weeks that Mr.H has been using these, he has found them very comfortable and the boots have performed well on all kinds of terrain - from paved paths to boggy puddles to rocky mountain trails. The grip has been good. This could be attributed to the hardwearing carbon outsole and a multi-directional cleat pattern that delivers excellent traction and shock absorption on and off the trail.
Here are the key features of the Samaris Mid Hiking Boots
- Isotex waterproof protection
- High-performance nylon woven Endurance Mesh and PU upper
- Hydropel water-resistant technology
- Neoprene collar for added comfort
- Deep padded collar and tongue
- Rubber toe and abrasion resistant heel bumper
- Moulded EVA comfort footbed and stabilising shank technology
- X-LT sole technology - engineered to offer the best in weight saving technology
- Dual density compression moulded EVA midsole
- Lightweight carbon rubber outsole
Like I mentioned earlier on, Mr.H put these boots to a lot of use in Austria - exploring mountains and valleys, hiking up some rugged trails, walking tours in cities - and he has no hesitation in recommending them for such terrain. If you do a lot of walking, then a good pair of boots are extremely important and this pair from Regatta would be a good choice, to begin with. Even after using them for extended periods every day, Mr.H experienced no discomfort and no blisters.

Both Mr.H and I also tested Regatta's Cross Penine III Hybrid jackets.
Regatta Cross Penine III Hybrid Breathable Waterproof Stretch Jacket
We needed jackets that were lightweight yet provided good weather protection and Regatta delivered just that. The Cross Penine III hybrid breathable waterproof stretch jacket ticked all the right boxes. It has a waterproof/breathable shell that uses ISOTEX 15,000 fabric with key-area stretch panels for enhanced mobility. Other main features include sealed seams, watertight zips and adjustable cuffs that seal out the elements. It doesn't stop at that, there are other useful features like a shock cord hem, inner storm flap and an internal map pocket. One feature that Mr.H loved a lot was the 2-way underarm venting zips which provided the much-needed airflow on tough climbs. While I liked the addition of these vents, I found that the venting zips bothered my underarm area. Mr.H had no such problem though. I liked the stretch feature of the jacket which ensured a good fit and added to the mobility while climbing.
The sizing was perfect. Both I and Mr.H ordered our regular sizes and the fit was comfortable. So comfortable that now Mr.H likes using it daily. I have been impressed with the jacket as well - its performance on the mountain trails was as we were hoping it would be. We feel that the Cross Penine jackets from Regatta would be ideal for countryside walks, moderate mountain walking and of course as a daily use jacket. Overall, we both liked the products we were sent and would recommend them to anyone looking for good and affordable outdoor gear.
