Stellar Rocktanium 24cm Saute Pan
Gifted item | Contains affiliate links

The Rocking Pan and Pan Sets from Stellar Cookware are the latest additions to the company's ever-expanding range of cookware. Last year they launched a new non-stick frying pan collection called 'Rocktanium'. I had reviewed this on the blog last year and the frying pan is really hard-wearing. It still makes the fluffiest of omelettes in spite of being put to extensive use for over 14 months.

Following up on the popularity of the Rocktanium collection, Stellar recently launched a new collection of quality non-stick saucepans in a range of essential sizes. I have been testing out the 24cm Saute Pan and I must admit, I have been quite impressed. The pan reflects the high quality that I expect from Stellar Cookware and has been a versatile addition to my kitchen.

Key features of the 24cm Sauté Pan

The sauté pan makes use of PFOA free Quantanium Non-Stick that has excellent scratch resistance and is harder and more durable than conventional non-stick. The pan has been made from thick aluminium with an induction base to ensure even heat distribution. With Stainless steel cast handles and vented glass lid, the pan not only looks attractive but also offers excellent results while cooking. The non-stick property is excellent - no sticking or burning of food. And the pan is very easy to clean as well. A good thing about the Sauté pan is that you can put it in the dishwasher although I have never done that as I prefer to wash it by hand - much quicker and easier with just hot soapy water. The pan is suitable for all hob types and comes with a Lifetime Guarantee (10 years on the non-stick).

Overall, I am very pleased with this Sauté pan - the 24cm pan is the ideal size for family meals - especially for making curries (I have shared one of my favourite recipes below).

Recipe | Spicy Egg Curry

This is one of my favourite curries - one that is simple to make and one which is a great value dish.

Spicy Egg Curry Recipe

Ingredients

6 free range eggs
2 onions, finely chopped
250-300 gms fresh tomatoes (coarsely pureed)
2-3 green chillies (blend this with the tomatoes)
Ginger paste (1 tsp)
6 garlic cloves
Cardamom and cloves (2-3 each)
Oil
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Garam Masala
Salt to taste

Method

1. Hard boil the eggs, remove the shells and prick them with a fork. Set aside.
2. Heat oil in the Stellar Sauté pan and add the cloves, cardamom, whole garlic and chopped onion. Sauté until the onions turn light brown.
3. Add the ginger paste. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add the pureed tomatoes and green chillies and cook for a further 8-10 minutes.
5. Add salt, turmeric powder, garam masala and red chilli powder. Stir well and cook until the gravy looks well cooked. You can add water to adjust the consistency.
6. Finally, add the boiled eggs and cook for another 5 minutes.
7. Garnish with coriander leaves if desired.
8. Serve with naan, roti or rice.

If the curry is too spicy for your taste, add a dollop of butter in the end!
