4711 is a classic German fragrance that has been in production for more than 222 years now. The composition of the fragrance is still a closely guarded secret but with its careful selection of high-quality ingredients and essential oils, 4711 remains a popular fragrance even now.

There is something so perfect, yet so simple about this 'original' eau de cologne. Developed in the 1700s in Cologne, Germany, 4711 is most likely the first cologne ever created and hence is also referred to as 'the original cologne'. The scent is beautiful - it reminds me of my dad. He has always favoured old-school colognes and this scent is so like him. I think this was a part of the appeal for me.
4711 is a unisex scent, I feel. And it works well for both formal and casual occasions. It is a clean and fresh scent that is not overpowering and would be agreeable to most tastes. Mr.H has used this cologne and while it tends to wear off fairly quickly on him, he likes the ultra fresh citrus fragrance - it is a refreshing classic, according to him. On me, as well, it is short lived but considering that it is a cologne and not an EDP, I would not consider this a drawback. I love the fragrance - subtle, light and refreshing. And I also love the bottle design - something very nostalgic about it.
Overall, for the price - £17.00/100ml - it is a very good buy. You can purchase the 4711 range (they also have travel friendly products like cologne tissues and cologne stick) from Boots.

The precious ingredients are carefully harmonised. Bergamot, lemon, and orange provide a uniquely revitalising effect. Lavender and rosemary have a calming and relaxing effect, strengthening the nerves. Neroli, extracted from the blossom of the bitter orange, has a calming effect in the base note, creating a positive mood.
