Hydro Flasks are vacuum insulated stainless steel bottles. They come in 7 different sizes, with 2 different lid types and a range of colours and you can even mix and match and make your own custom Hydro Flask. We put one of the 21 oz (621ml) Hydro Flask to test and here is what we thought.
This was the first time we were using a Hydro Flask. I had seen some photographs of the flask earlier but had not actually used one. So, when I received the flask and held it in my hands, I was pleasantly surprised by its build quality - it felt sturdy but not heavy. The flask has been designed very nicely. It is made with 18/8 Pro Grade Stainless Steel and is BPA and Phthalate free. The flask outer has a sweat-free powder coat finish which I liked a lot. The flask came with a standard mouth insulated flex cap. You can opt for a Sport cap if you prefer that.
Because the flask is insulated (ThermoShield technology that protects temperature for hours) it can keep hot drinks hot drinks hot (up to 12 hours) and cold drinks cold (up to 24 hours), as per the makers. This makes the flask ideal for the outdoors - whether you are on a road trip, out camping or hiking, the Hydro Flask would be the perfect companion. We put it to test on our recent trip to the mountains and based on our experience it is very effective. Over days, we used the bottle for a range of drinks and in each case, it lived up to the expectations. Cold drinks / cold water stayed cold for a good 8-10 hours while hot drinks (tea mostly) stayed hot for up to 5 hours. We could not test the 12-hour claim for hot drinks because we finished the hot drinks much before that time frame.
In addition to its functionality, I liked the design of the bottle a lot. It is easy to grip the bottle and it doesn't become slippery even when it is wet due to its sweat-free powder coat finish. I also like the fun colours these flasks come in. The 'Lemon' one that we have is such a bright and fun colour. It is one of the newly released colours; some other new ones being 'Raspberry' and 'Sage'.
Overall, the Hydro Flask scores well both in terms of functionality and style. It is well made and looks very durable (I am sure my flask is going to last a very long time). And it is easy to clean as well - hand washing with a mild dish soap and a bristled bottle brush is all that is needed.
The 21 oz Hydro Flask with a standard mouth retails for £26.95.
