Terraillon, a global houseware brand, recently launched its full set of connected wellbeing devices which work together with the brand's Wellness Coach application. One of the devices is the Terraillon Web Coach Prime Fit Kit, which includes a connected Web Coach Prime Scale and an activity tracker called Activi-T Band.
The Terraillon Web Coach Prime Scale is a glass, body fat analysing scale. The scale links to your smartphone and displays weight, BMI, body fat, body water, muscle mass & bone density. The scale has a maximum capacity of 160kgs and 8 user memories which means all the family can use it. It requires 3 AAA batteries, which I was surprised were not included in the box. In terms of appearance, the scale looks robust and has a sleek design.
The Activi-T Band has a 3D sensor that monitors your physical activity, i.e. number of steps and distance and then calculates the number of calories burned. During the night or whenever you are sleeping, it analyses the different phases of sleep (deep and light sleep) and records how long they last. The band has an OLED screen that displays the number of steps, distance, calories burned and the current time. It even has a vibrating alarm.
The activity band's battery has a life of 7 days and it can be recharged in around 90 minutes via an integrated USB port. The band is available in two sizes - small and large - thus making it suitable to most wrist sizes.
Both the devices need to be linked to the Wellness Coach App to track your weight, body fat, body water, muscle mass etc.
The app is said to be compatible with most smartphones and iPads. We installed the app on our iPad - it was fairly easy. But we had some trouble initially connecting the two devices to the app. It would not recognise them. I re-read the manuals and gave it a another try. The issue still persisted. But when I tried it again the next day, it worked. Both the devices were now being recognised by the app and I was able to synchronise them. After the initial hiccup with the set up, I have not had any problems with the data synchronisation. Everything seems to be working fine.
One improvement I would like to see in the product is related to the set up - the instruction manual and the app could be improved so that setting up the app and connecting the devices to the app becomes easier.
Once the app is up and running, the Web Coach Prime Fit Kit is easy to use though. The Web Coach Prime Fit Kit retails at £99.99 and can be purchased online from Argos.co.uk.
