Do you love supercars and racing? Are you a fan of exciting and engaging games? Do you like robotics and AI (artificial intelligence)? If you answered 'yes' to any of the questions then today's post is sure to interest you. In this post, I am going to tell you about the Anki OVERDRIVE Starter Kit and their new Supertrucks.
According to Hanns Tappeiner, one of the co-founders of Anki, the company was started in 2010 with the mission to harness robotics and AI technologies to bring to life consumer products with unprecedented level of intellect and interactive capabilities.
To get started with Anki OVERDRIVE, you need the Starter Kit.
The starter kit includes:
- 10 Battlefields : these are the track pieces that allow you to build different types of battlefields for your Anki game.
- 2 Robotic supercars : the default supercars are Skull and GroundShock, each one with its own unique weapon systems and the technology to think for itself on the battlefield track.
- 3 Accessories : these include 1 four-car charging platform, 2 riser pieces that allow you to build bridges and overpasses and 1 tire cleaner to keep the wheels of your supercars free from dust and dirt.
Once you have built your battlefield track using the starter kit, charge your supercars. It takes very little time to charge them and you get around 20-25 minutes playing time. Now you need to get ready for the racing by downloading the free Anki OVERDRIVE app on to a compatible iOS or Android device. This app will allow you to control the cars on the track. And you are ready. It's playtime!
Up to 4 cars can play at any time on the track, which means there can be 4 users(players) each with the app installed on their own compatible device. To play cross device a Wi-Fi connection is required.
The 2 supercars Skull and GroundShock are awesome. You don't actually drive the cars as they are controlled via Bluetooth but you can and do control their speed and position. The cars come with different designs, speeds, firepower and defence tactics. The more you play and more you win, your car gets tougher and stronger and you can add more weapons to your car like plasma cannon, charge beam, core inverter, chaingun etc.
Anki recently launched new Supertrucks - FREEWHEEL and X52. These supersize trucks are almost triple the size of other Anki OVERDRIVE supercars and make an interesting addition to the battlefield. In addition to their size, the supertrucks also bring in powerful new weapons and exciting game modes that make the racing game even more fun and amazing.
There are various ways to play Anki. You can play solo against virtual opponents or play against other players as we did. Kids and adults will equally enjoy this exciting game driven by powerful AI and equipped with their own deadly strategy. It is loads of fun. I can sum it up as an exciting video game in real life - a great racing game that combines AI, digital technology, strategy and fun into one.
Anki OVERDRIVE starter kit is priced at £149.99 while the super trucks are priced at £59.99 each. You can purchase them online at www.anki.com
