A couple of months ago, we received an experience voucher from www.buyagift.co.uk. We used our voucher to book an introductory flying experience for Mr.H. He has always been fascinated by light aircrafts. The chance to fly in one and also take the controls was an opportunity not to be missed.
Once we had finalised that this was the experience we would be opting for, we made the booking. There was a slight issue with the booking but the lovely team at BuyAGift sorted it out for us. We were booked in for a 30 minute flight experience at Andrewsfield Aviation in Great Dunmow. An email was sent to us with all the details regarding the experience and the venue.
On the day of the experience, we headed to the Andrewsfield Aviation airfield and the flying lesson started with a pre-flight briefing from the instructor (Mike Naylor). This included safety aspects and also an introduction to some of the flight controls which was done in the cockpit. Mr.H was then handed headphones so that he could communicate with his instructor and also hear the conversations with the air traffic control. And then Mr.H and his instructor were airborne.
The flight duration was half an hour and according to Mr.H it was truly fantastic. Once they were airborne he had the chance to take the controls and fly the aircraft. They flew over the Essex countryside before heading back to the airfield. The instructor took over the control to land the plane. It was an amazing experience, one that Mr.H enjoyed thoroughly. He was also pleased with the fact that the instructor/pilot explained everything very clearly and allowed him to take control after take off and up until they decided to land. Best 30 minutes ever! Mr.H is now thinking about taking flying lessons.
