Vitamins and minerals are essential nutrients that play a very important part in your overall heath. They perform a number of roles in the body and you need to get them in the right amounts to ensure normal cell function and development. Our body cannot produce all these nutrients on its own and gets them from the food we eat. Normally we can get all these essential nutrients by eating a healthy balanced diet. For e.g. Vitamin C is found in Citrus fruits, Strawberries and Brussels sprouts while Vitamin B2 can be found in dairy products and green leafy vegetables. However, some of us need to take vitamin supplements for a variety of reasons - older adults who may have deficiency of certain vitamins, pregnant women, people with dietary restrictions or those whose bodies are unable to absorb nutrients from food. And that is where vitamin supplements come into picture.
Vitamin supplements normally come in tablet or capsule form. But in recent years oral vitamin sprays have made an appearance. If you do not like swallowing pills or if taking pills causes a stomach upset, then these oral sprays are just the solution for you.
A while back I was sent some vitamin oral sprays from BetterYou to try. You might have read my review of BetterYou's Magnesium Oil sprays earlier. I had loved the Magnesium sprays and was looking forward to sampling these vitamin sprays. So, without further ado, onto the sprays I received and my thoughts on them.
I was sent three samples - DLux 3000 Vitamin D Oral Spray, MultiVit Multi Vitamin Oral Spray and B12 Boost Vitamin B12 Oral Spray.
According to BetterYou,
I have been taking Vitamin D supplements ever since I was diagnosed with very low levels of the same. I up my intake in the colder months and space them out in the warmer months when there is more sunshine. I used to take Vitamin D in the tablet form and sometimes used to forget taking the supplement, especially while travelling. This small bottle of spray is perfect for travel. Just pop it in your handbag and spray on the go - so easy and convenient. It is a tiny bottle with just 15ml of the product but with 1 spray a day it should last you a good 3 months. The spray has a peppermint taste and is definitely much better than pills. I like it and would recommend trying it, especially in Autumn-Winter when you need to top up your Vitamin D levels.
Ingredients:
Purified water, xylitol (natural sweetener), acacia gum, cholecalciferol (vitamin D3 in coconut oil), sunflower lecithin (tricalcium phosphate, rice flour), citric acid, preservative (potassium sorbate), peppermint oil.
As per the BetterYou website,
The 25ml spray bottle has 160 measured sprays. The recommended dosage is 4 sprays per day. Just like the Vitamin D spray, this one is also brilliant - very handy and easy to use. All your vitamin needs are met with a few sprays. The spray has sour grapes flavour. It is sour, tangy and has a very mild bitter aftertaste but works well for me. I actually like the taste. But not everyone may like it. Mr.H found the flavour a little too sour for his taste initially but he has got used to the taste now.
Ingredients:
Water, Xylitol, Acacia Gum, Ascorbic Acid (C), Nicotinamide (B3), Calcium Pantothenate (B5), Retinyl Acetate (A), Citric Acid, Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium (B2), Grape Flavour, Phylloquinone (K1), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (B6), Thiamine Mononitrate (B1), Potassium Sorbate, Folic Acid, Cholecalciferol (D), Potassium Iodine, Sodium Selenite, Biotin, Methylcobalamin.

These sound so much better than taking dozens of tablets (as I do everyday...) and I would love to try these out - will definitely be looking out for these!
