Back in April I was chosen to be one of a group of bloggers to trial a new eye patch - Skinova Hyaluronic Patch. Using a new technology called AcroPass TransDermal - a patented process of microstructures contained in a patch that aim to deliver hyaluronic acid through the epidermis without causing any damage or discomfort, the eye patches claimed to restore and rejuvenate your skin while asleep. I love skincare treats and there was no way I would refuse this offer. Soon after, I received a set of 4 eye patches and put them to test. Here is what I thought of the Skinova AcroPass Eye Patches.
The Skinova AcroPass eye patches look like most other eye patches but the difference lies in the technology. According to the makers
This pictorial representation from AcroPass explains how to use the eye patches correctly.
As suggested I used the patches on cleansed face at night. Unlike other eye patches I have used, these were very easy to remove from the packaging - no stickiness or greasiness at all. The patches were actually dry and you could see the tiny microstructures on the patch. You need to remove the protective covering and apply the patch under the eye taking care that you do not slide your fingers on the patch as you would normally do. Because of the presence of the microstructures, you need to simply press down the patch using your fingers.
I did not feel any discomfort with the patches. There was a slight prickly feeling for a little while but even that subsided soon. I had a little problem with the adhesive the first time - no skin irritation but a slight difficulty in getting the patches in the right position under the eye. In subsequent uses even that was not an issue. The patches are easy to apply and stay put in place.
In terms of results, I did feel that my under eye area looked hydrated and plump once I removed the patches more so after the second use. The Hyaluronic Acid seemed to have done its job. As you must be knowing, Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin and is involved in tissue repair and hydration. It is used in skincare products because it can retain 1000 times its own weight in water thereby adding plumpness to skin. The under eye area looked well hydrated for a few days post using the eye patches and it did make my face look more refreshed overall.
The eye patches come in a pack of 4 and are priced at £48. While the price may look a bit steep, these would make a good addition to your skincare ritual especially if you are in the late 30s or older.

Skinova Acropass patch #14
The Skinova AcroPass eye patches look like most other eye patches but the difference lies in the technology. According to the makers
AcroPass uses a patented method called Droplet-born Air Blowing (DAB) to form microscopic needle like microstructures from hydrolysed pure Hyaluronic acid. Other methods of micro moulding often create imperfect needle structures due to the viscosity of the material and the heating process can cause distortion of the active compounds. With our innovative DAB technology these imperfections are avoided as we form structurally perfect shapes and pointed microstructures with no adverse impact on the active compound of Hyaluronic acid.
Once these microstructure penetrate the skin surface they gradually dissolve delivering Hyaluronic acid to the target area.
