Taking care of my skin is akin to a relaxing experience for me. It is like 'me time' where I can pamper my skin to make it look and feel the best. After all who doesn't want great-looking skin? My facial skin is combination while the rest of my body is normal to dry dependant on the weather, my health and many other factors.
I have been using beauty oils for a few years now and recently I was introduced to a new range of beauty oils from Fushi. The oils that I have been trying out over the past few weeks are : Organic Carrot Oil and Passion Seed (Maracuja Oil). While different types of oil have different uses and properties, most of them are generally moisturising and nourishing. Beauty oils can be used on their own or they can be combined with other oils. Read on to see my experience with both these oils.
Organic Carrot Oil (100ml, £10)
According to Fushi
Carrot tissue oil is cold pressed from the flesh of whole carrots and then infused in Sweet Almond oil, making it extremely rich in Beta Carotene, Vitamins A, B, C, D and E and essential fatty acids.
Carrots are a powerhouse of nutrients and for long have been known to be beneficial for hair and skin. This oil packs in all the goodness of carrots plus Sweet Almond oil making it excellent for dry skin and ageing or wrinkled skin. The oil moisturises the skin making it soft. When used on dry hair it works as a wonderful deep conditioner. The bottle states that the oil can be consumed as well. You can add 1-3 teaspoons daily with your food (over a salad or blended into a smoothie); however I have not used it internally. I have only used it externally on my skin and hair. I especially liked its use as a hair massage oil. It leaves my hair beautifully soft and hydrated. The only care you need to take while using this oil (most oils in fact) is that it can stain your clothes - it is bright orange just like carrots (obviously!).
Tip: You can mix a few drops of the Carrot oil with your night time moisturiser to make a really wonderful treat for your skin.
Passion Seed (Maracuja) Oil (100ml, £13)
As per Fushi’s website
Passion Seed Oil is mainly known for its calming properties in addition to a variety of other amazing health benefits. It is cold pressed, unrefined and originates in Uganda.
This oil is made from the seeds of the exotic Passion Flower and is excellent as a moisturiser for the skin. You can add a few drops of this oil in a bath to aid relaxation or put a few drops on a tissue and place it next to your pillow for a good restful sleep. I tried it both ways and much preferred it in the bath. I was not very keen on the fragrance of the oil to keep it next to my pillow all night. However this oil is an excellent moisturiser. I prepared my own body scrub by mixing brown sugar with a few teaspoons of the Maracuja oil to create a luxurious body scrub that gives the skin a healthy glow and a soft appearance. I also added a couple of drops of essential oil to improve the scent. Loved it. The brown sugar took care of the exfoliation while the oil keep the skin hydrated. You can also create a massage oil by mixing the Maracuja Oil with Sweet Almond Oil and adding a few drops of your favourite essential oil for fragrance.
Overall, I have loved using both these oils from Fushi. Both the oils are 100 percent natural and sourced ethically. The oils appear to be of the highest quality and come packaged in beautiful glass bottles to protect the oil from heat, light and oxidation. The oils contain no preservatives and are in their most natural state possible. And Fushi do not test on animals.
