Both myself and Mr.H love food. While Indian cuisine tops our list for obvious reasons(we both are from India, albeit different states - states that are very different in terms of cuisine), we also enjoy food from different countries. It is always interesting to try out traditional dishes and drinks from different parts of the world. My love for food and cooking is courtesy my mom. She is an amazing cook and I have learnt everything I know from her. From simple everyday cooking to special delicacies, her recipes are what I always go back to for inspiration. I love trying out new ingredients and cooking methods and always make it a point to sample local food while travelling. Although vegetarianism isn't very prevalent in many of the countries I have travelled to, I have enjoyed the veggie fare on offer in most countries. Worth a mention is Egypt where I immensely enjoyed the vegetarian food. Similarly the selection of desserts in Italy was amazing and mouth-watering. No surprises as Italy is known for its yummy food.
Recently I had the opportunity to purchase products from Ufuud - an online distributor of high-end Italian food products. Ufuud have a vast selection of traditional Italian treats ranging from pasta, varieties of rice, ready-made sauces, oils, vinegars, sweets, beers and fruit preserves to name a few. Ufuud carefully select the products stocked on their site and you can be assured of the quality of the products.
Products new to the site and marked with a yellow tab making it easier to spot new additions. Purchasing and ordering is very easy and Ufuud delivers the products 1 or 2 working days after receiving payment. I enjoyed browsing through Ufuud's site and after 45 minutes of adding and removing products from the shopping cart, I finally selected the following:
The other night, the dinner menu included Campofilone gramigna pasta. I made it with cream sauce and Quorn and it was yummy. The pasta quality was excellent and I loved the worm-like shape :) The Ticinensis Rossa(red beer) was lovely paired with our pasta meal. Strong flavoured and with a lovely aroma, we enjoyed this Italian beer. We also sampled the two savoury items - Curry and Poppy seed biscuits and the Tomato, Oregano and Chili Cantucci biscuits; both of which were flavoursome and reminded me of Indian snacks.
The Coffee-flavoured shortcrust Frolla Ricca biscuits were amazing. Made with just six ingredients(wheat flour, butter, sugar, eggs, coffee and sea salt) these biscuits were simply delicious. Crispy and buttery, the shortbread biscuits make use of Sidamo coffee, an Ethiopian coffee variety, giving the biscuits a deep and chocolate-like taste. Overall, I am very impressed with all the products that I ordered from Ufuud. The ordering process and delivery were also well managed.
