For some reason I recently re-looked at the floor cleaning solutions I was using at home and was alarmed when I read the ingredients list. I decided to cut down on the use of chemical floor cleaners and started looking at natural alternatives. Around the same time, the Vileda Steam mop arrived at our home. Vileda is an internationally recognised household brand who are well known for their mechanical cleaning products.
The Vileda Steam mop is a quick and lightweight way to hygienically clean your floors without the use of chemical solutions. The steam mop was very easy to assemble. A quick read through the instructions manual and I had the mop assembled in under two minutes. The box includes the main mop unit, 2 durable microfiber cleaning pads, a filling jug and a carpet glider attachment for cleaning carpets. Once the mop is assembled, you fill up the water tank and plug into the mains. After a very quick 15 seconds heat up, the mop is ready to use. There is a knob just above the water tank to adjust the amount of steam released. The mop is suitable for all hard sealed floors such as tiles, laminate, vinyl and wood.
The fully assembled mop weighs around 2.2kgs(yes, it is lightweight) and is very easy to carry around. One feature that impressed me was the mop's long handle. A well thought of design as it lets me reach under/the back of the furniture without having to rearrange anything. The triangular swivel head also makes it easy to manoeuvre around furniture with ease. With a fully filled water tank(400ml) the steam mop gives around 28 minutes of steaming/cleaning time.
The Vileda Steam mop is a pleasure to use. It makes the task of cleaning floors so much easier and effective. We have wooden flooring all around the house(bathroom excluded) and I used to use wooden floor cleaners and wooden floor wipes earlier. But with the Vileda Steam mop, I have drastically cut down on the use of chemical cleaners. The microfiber cleaning cloth and steam help loosen dirt particles from the floor and trap them in the fibres leaving the floor clean. I am really enjoying using this steam mop to clean the floors - it works as claimed, is efficient and saves time.
