I love perfumes and enjoy trying out new scents. I must have mentioned this earlier on the blog - I have no signature scent. I like to experiment and what better way to do that than with a perfume subscription box. I was recently sent a sample box with an impressive collection of fragrances - ones that I am enjoying using. Let me introduce you to The Perfume Society - a website where you can discover, explore and enjoy perfumes. If you want to know anything and everything about fragrances, then this is the site for you. But The Perfume Society are more than just a regular website. Apart from the subscription boxes they also offer events, courses, sampling opportunities and an informative regular downloadable magazine, The Scented Letter.
The Perfume Society has a VIP Subscription Service. Becoming a VIP(Very Important Perfumista!) comes with a lot of exclusive benefits. For just £25 a year you will receive:
- Invitations to ticketed fragrance events where you can meet key individuals from the perfume world, attend fragrance workshops and also some in-store shopping events.
- Eight glossy editions of an ‘e-magazine’ called The Scented Letter which as you must have guessed is devoted to all things fragrant.
- Access to all areas of the website including the subscriber-only zones where you can read special content including ‘nose’ interviews, vodcasts, podcasts and much more.
- Suggested activities for your own local 'Perfume Group'. Something like a book club, but minus the homework!
- Information about each of The Perfume Society's new limited edition Discovery Boxes. This will help you discover new perfumes and also improve your sense of smell!
- An introductory 'Discovery Box' of samples, each accompanied by ‘smelling notes’ designed to introduce you to the key fragrance families.
- A subscription card.
As I mentioned earlier in the post, I recently received one of the discovery boxes(The Holiday Collection Discovery Box, £15.00) from The Perfume Society. The box was jam-packed with fragrance samples(eight to be precise), smelling strips, ‘Fragrance Notes’ postcards and a couple of extra complimentary treats. Here is the list of the entire contents:
- Liz Earle's Botanical Essence No.15 EDP 2ml
- L'Artisan Parfumeur Mure et Musc EDT 1.5ml
- Agent Provocateur Fatale 2ml
- Shay & Blue Atropa Belladonna 2ml
- Plum by Mary Greenwell EDP 2ml
- L'Occitane Collection de Grasse The Vert & Bigarade EDT 7.5ml
- Judith Williams I love Milano Principessa EDP 10ml
- Versace Crystal Collection(Crystal Noir, Bright Crystal and Yellow Diamond EDT) 1ml each
The additional treats in the box were a full size(8ml) Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish(St James) and a 5ml sample of Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial.
I have been trying out the fragrances that I have received in the box - some are ones I have used and heard of and some are new to me. It is interesting to read more about each fragrance and understand their fragrance notes while trying them out. One fragrance that I liked a lot is the Shay & Blue Atropa Belladonna. It has such an intoxicating, fruity and somewhat floral smell. I love it. I also liked the Agent Provocateur Fatale EDP. Having known Agent Provocateur only for their luxurious lingerie range and not having tried any of their other fragrances earlier, this was a surprise. I quite liked this bold and enticing scent with irresistible hints of chocolate. I feel it is a scent best suited for the cold weather. I also liked the 10ml sample of 'I love Milano'. It is a very sensual fragrance and is perfect for this time of the year as it has a vibrant, sunny scent.
Overall, I liked the discovery box - an excellent way to indulge in one's love for fragrances and at the same time learn more about identifying fragrance notes.
