I love the monthly surprise food box courtesy of Degustabox. All the boxes that I have had the chance to review so far have been interesting and the December box was no exception. The mission of Degustabox is to send a monthly surprise food box with a mix of goodies packed in each box. Costing only £12.99 per month(which includes delivery charges) the box is packed with around 9-14 food and drink products and is delivered right to your door. If you are a foodie like me and love trying out new stuff, then the Degustabox is an excellent idea. I have discovered some new brands over the past few months and these have now become regulars at our home. While Degustabox is a good bargain at £12.99 per box, let me make it even more enticing by giving you a £3.00 off code. You can use the code K51P9 at checkout to get the discount.
Usually Degustabox arrives in the last week of each month, but this month due to the festive holidays, the box arrived a little early. Not that I am complaining. The December box had products from a few brands that I had tried earlier and there were some brands that I had not heard of and as such was excited to trial. So without much ado, here is what came in the December Degustabox.
Let me begin with the healthiest item first :) The Chia Co Oats+Chia are wholegrain oats and chia blended with the best quality fruits and coconut oil. I had heard of Chia seeds but never really got around to trying them. So, this packet of ‘just add water’ oats was the perfect way to discover chia. The mixed berry flavour pack that I received had a smooth and creamy texture and the addition of the fruits took the flavour quotient high. Along with the Oats pack we also got a tube of Chia seeds which I am yet to try out. I did look-up some recipes and I might end up using these either in soups or smoothies.
Bonne Maman Coarse Orange Marmalade - This is also a brand I had heard of but never tried, so I was excited to see this marmalade jar in the box. The marmalade is tastier than many others I have tried and had a zingy taste. Perfect with toast.
Bahlsen Choco Leibniz - These luxurious milk chocolate biscuits are absolutely amazing. The original version is delicious in itself and the new caramel ones with so addictive - literally oozing with caramel. Needless to say these were the first ones to disappear from the box. If you enjoy biscuits you need to try these out.
Frylight Infuse Chilli Oil Spray - I use oil sprays when cooking to make our meals healthier but I have not tried this brand earlier. In our household, we love our food spicy. So, I am sure this one will be put to good use.
Next up is the Kent's Kitchen Brazilian Moqueca Capixaba meal kit. I have used Kent's Kitchen meal kits earlier thanks to the previous Degustaboxes and I know that these are quite handy to have in the kitchen. The kit comes with infused oil and spices making your meal cooking fun and easy. This time I have the Brazilian meal kit and I am looking forward to trying this out.
BBQ Popchips - We love these. Popchips are different from other fried or baked chips both in terms of texture and taste. Popchips are a regular at our home since we first tried them earlier this year and we thoroughly enjoyed this crunchy snack from the December box.
Gloworm Premium Mixers - As the name suggests these are premium mixers uniquely blended to compliment a selection of spirits. The mixers are sugar-free and taurine-free and are available in four interesting flavours: Raspberry & Orris for Vodka, Ginger & Lemongrass for Bourbon, Pear, Spice & Lime for Rum and Cucumber & Apple for Gin. All the four flavours sound amazing and I think would make great mixers. I have kept them for tomorrow evening(31st) but am tempted to give one of them a go on their own!
Eisberg Non Alcoholic Wine - I have never tried non-alcoholic wine before as I enjoy regular wine. The Eisberg Alcohol-Free wine is said to be made in exactly the same way as normal wine and then alcohol is removed. It is available in Chardonnay, Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling and contains only a third of the calories of the regular version. This is not something that I would pick up myself in a store but then that is the fun of Degustabox - you try products that you would normally not buy or do not know of. I gave the non-alcoholic wine a go with an open mind and it was not bad. While I will stick to consuming regular wine, this would make a good alternative for those who are off alcohol for any reason.
Pukka Herbs Clean Green - We love tea at DB Reviews and have tried many Pukka Herbs teas but not this one which came in the December box. 'Clean Green' is a lovely, fresh and uplifting green tea with a zing of lemons. I had thought of using this in January, post the indulgences of the holiday season. But between myself and Mr.H we have managed to run through this box in December itself.
Overall I am happy with the selection of products in the December box. It's the last box of the year and I have enjoyed all the boxes so far! If you love food and surprises, then I would recommend that you try one of these boxes.
