Confectionery as gifts during the festive season has been an age old tradition. Personally I prefer retro confectionery products and the brand that I present to you today has some really lovely products that use traditional retro packaging.
Churchill's Confectionery headquartered in Borehamwood (Hertfordshire) is a family-run business. Starting as a small, independent firm Churchill's has grown into an award winning global company. With more than 25 years' experience in the confectionery business they are an iconic British brand with their products being sold in the UK and many other countries worldwide.
Churchill's Confectionery sells a delicious range of sweets, chocolates and biscuits. All their products are decoratively packaged in hand-crafted gift bags and novelty tins. It is this combination of mouth-watering confectionery with novelty packaging that makes them stand out from others. I was recently sent some of their confectionery products and today I will share my views on the same.
First up is the 'Carousel', a beautifully crafted toffee tin that instantly evoked memories of my childhood. I held the tin in my hands for a very long time reminiscing about all the fun times I have had as a child at the local fairs. The tin is embossed with scene from a carnival and depicts everything so realistically. They have used excellent embossing effects to give a realistic sense of movement and depth to the characters. I am not exaggerating when I say that this toffee tin is one of the most eye-catching ones I have come across in recent times. With the packaging so beautiful, I had high hopes from the sweet treats that were inside the tin. And I was not disappointed. The English toffee and Vanilla fudge were both delicious. They reminded us of old fashioned sweets - simple, tasty and made to perfection. This product gets full marks both for the presentation and the quality of the sweet treats.
Carousel - 400g Toffees & Vanilla Fudge
Next we have 'Winter Wonderland' which contains 400g of assorted biscuits(fruit & lemon cookies, chocochip shortbread and round shortbreads). The cookies were again of excellent quality like the toffee/fudge and did not last long in our household :) Mr.H's favourite was the chocochip shortbread - crumbly shortbread studded with chocolate chips. Yum. I loved the plain shortbreads - luxurious and absolutely delicious. The tin is a collectable like the Carousel one. It has a rippled silver-effect frame with a scenery depicting children playing in the snow, building a gleaming snowman. The tin beautifully captures the Christmas spirit and looks wonderful.
To sum it up, we loved the confectionery we tried. The collectable tins are excellent. I have already found use for both the tins. Churchill's products would make wonderful gifts for any occasion and you can buy them as luxury treats for yourself as well ;-) You can check out their entire range here - churchills-confectionery.co.uk
And I will end this post with some sweet news. Churchill's Confectionery are kindly giving away one of their Carousel tins to one lucky reader of DB Reviews. Use the Rafflecopter form below to enter.
