A hand-held blender is a must have gadget in any kitchen. It comes in very handy whether you are making soups and sauces or smoothies and milkshakes. A while back I was sent the Stellar Stick Blender and I have put it to use almost every other day since receiving it. I think I may have fallen in love with it :blushes: Having used the blender for making loads of soups and smoothies, I felt now was the perfect time to share with you folks my views on this lovely new addition to my kitchen.
The Stellar Stick Blender comes in a matte stainless steel finish and scores well on the aesthetic front. The blender comes in a compact box and contains 2 units:
- the motor unit which includes the power cord, speed dial and the power/turbo buttons,
- the blending unit which includes the cutter head.
Both the units are sturdy and it is very simple to assemble them. The motor unit drops into the blending unit and 'locks' when you rotate clockwise. It's well marked on the motor unit as you can see from the picture above.
The handle is ergonomically designed and provides a good, sturdy grip. The stainless steel blades in the blending unit are extremely sharp. So whether its vegetables or fruits or lentils, the blender will whizz through anything. But do ensure that the food to be blended is cut into small pieces. And also take care when handling the cutter head - whether it is while blending or while cleaning. Never use your fingers to dislodge food between the blades and likewise while cleaning ensure that you keep your fingers away from the blades.
The blender speed can be adjusted using the illuminated top dial. I love the lovely blue colour that comes on when the blender is switched on :) The Turbo button in the motor unit gives added boost for serious blending. But always ensure that when you start using the blender you do so at the low setting or you might have food splashing everywhere.
The blender not only makes blending easy but is easy to clean as well. You can use soapy water to wash it or use the dishwasher as the blending unit is dishwasher safe. The motoring unit obviously should not be washed, but it is easy to wipe clean with a wet cloth or wipe.
I have made varieties of soup since the blender arrived. It was broccoli soup one day and then mixed vegetable soup the next day. I also made my favourite carrot & red lentil soup a couple of times. Mr.H got a big bag of summer fruits from our local Sunday market and I made use of those in smoothies. It's easier to have a glassful of smoothie than finishing a large bowl of fruits :) The Stellar Stick Blender has given top-notch results every time I have used it and definitely outperforms my old blender. I am loving this new addition to my kitchen.
Overall, the Stellar Stick Blender is simple yet effective. It is well-built, lovely to look at and very easy to use. It's powerful and is perfect for making soups, smoothies, sauces, milkshakes and the like.
