Have you heard of Green People? They are an organic beauty brand who offer a wonderful range of products encompassing skin and body care, hair care, sun care, make-up and dental hygiene products. When I came across Green People, my excitement and interest were piqued because I am on a journey in making a gradual transition to organic skin and hair care products and this is one brand that has products for almost all kinds of skin and hair care concerns. I also found the story of the brand - from the vision that was a motivation to setup the brand to setting industry standards and becoming a 'green' brand that now offers over 100 certified organic products - very interesting. You can read the journey of Green People here.
A while back I was sent the Green People Irritated Scalp Shampoo and the Fennel & Propolis Toothpaste to try out. I have been using the products for some time now and will share my views on the same today.
Over the past few years my thick and lustrous hair has gradually become fine and I tend to frequently face scalp irritations. My hair and scalp condition depends on my general health, the weather and my GERD. Yes, they are strangely linked together. If I have a flare-up in my GERD symptoms, I get skin rashes and my scalp becomes irritated and itchy. I have yet to figure out the connection but during such times I prefer or rather need a gentle shampoo to soothe the scalp irritation. The Green People Irritated Scalp Shampoo(200ml, £10.95) is a very gentle shampoo for normal/oily hair and combats itchy and irritated scalp. It does not contain SLS/SLES, alcohol, parabens, Methylisothiazolinone, phthalates and artificial fragrances.
Two of the key ingredients in the shampoo are organic Rosemary & Pineapple. Pineapple extract contains an enzyme called Bromelain which breaks down the protein bonds that hold dead skin cells onto skins surface. This results in dead skin being shed. As the build-up of dead skin cells reduces, the itchiness of scalp also reduces. Rosemary has anti-inflammatory properties and is ideal for sensitive and/or irritated skin. These 2 key ingredients along with Aloe Vera extract, Lavender herb oil and other ingredients keep scalp irritations away. The shampoo lathers well, smells good and soothes the irritated scalp. And you only need a little amount for each wash. It has been working well for me and I like it. Mr.H who has an extremely oily scalp also uses this. Using this shampoo has somewhat helped him to keep the oiliness under control. The shampoo gets a thumbs-up from both of us.
The Fennel & Propolis Toothpaste(50ml, £3.50) from Green People is targeted at those with sensitive teeth and gums. In our household, Mr.H has the problem of sensitive bleeding gums. While my gums are problem-free, I have to put up with teeth sensitivity. We both were keen to put this certified organic and 100% natural toothpaste to test. With a lovely mild Fennel flavour, this Fluoride and SLS-free toothpaste is unlike your normal toothpaste as in it doesn't foam. But it does the job very well. Mouth feels healthier and cleaner after using the toothpaste. And Mr.H has noticed that his gum sensitivity has subsided after using the toothpaste. If you are changing from a regular toothpaste to this one, the only thing you will need to get used to is the non-foaming action of the toothpaste. For ages we have had a thought ingrained in our minds - a toothpaste needs to foam well to clean well. But that is not the case. An organic, non-foaming toothpaste like this one does a wonderful job as well. If you have gum/teeth sensitivity then you should give this toothpaste a go.
