I recently received a couple of tetra packs of the PomeGreat Pomegranate Juice from Simply Great Drinks to try out and review on the blog. Mr. H is a lover of pomegranate juice. More often than not he picks up a bottle of POM. When we received PomeGreat he was finishing up a carton of a Tesco's own label pomegranate juice and was more than happy to put this one to test.
Let me begin by telling you about the benefits of pomegranate juice. Pomegranate is considered to be a wonder fruit as it offers many health benefits. While the fruit itself is delicious to eat as is, many find the numerous seeds within each fruit a bit difficult to deal with and that is why it is often preferred to be consumed in the juice form. Pomegranate juice is a good source of Vitamins A, C and E and also contains antioxidants. Some studies claim that it contains more antioxidants than Green Tea. Pomegranate juice is said to improve digestion and also boost immunity. It is also known to reduce blood pressure and acts as a blood thinner. Because of its high content of antioxidants the juice also eliminates free radicals from the body. With so many health benefits it is understandable why it is considered a wonder fruit.
Now coming to the taste. When Mr.H took the first sip he immediately said that it was not just pomegranate juice but something else was mixed with it as well. A quick look at the ingredients list revealed that he was right. It did have Aronia berries listed in addition to Pomegranate. And it is these berries that probably give the juice a slight astringency and tartness. Nonetheless the juice is a pleasure to drink. Nice taste and healthy too because the sugars in this juice come from the fruits itself. There is no added sugar or artificial flavouring.
It does make a difference when you know that the juice drinks you are consuming are made from the world’s finest varieties of super fruits with 100% natural sweetness. Apart from PomeGreat they also have CranGreat(cranberry drink) and MangoGreat(mango drink). You can pick up Simply Great Drinks from Waitrose, Sainsbury's, The Co-op and many other stores. Simply Great also have a special offer 'Buy 8 and Get 8 Free' wherein you get 8 packs free with the purchase of 8 packs.
