Metcalfe's Skinny is a range of light corn-based healthy snacks. As a healthier alternative to crisps, cakes etc, Metcalfe's Skinny range includes: low calorie popcorns, corn crisps and skinny rice cakes. I recently tried out some products from their range and here is what I felt.
Metcalfe's Skinny Corn'ers are crunchy corn crisps with 30% less fat than an average tortilla crisp. Each pack contains only 132 calories and these are perfect mid-afternoon snacks. The Skinny Corn'ers come in 2 flavours: Chilli Tweet and Cheese Louise. I enjoyed both the flavours. Cheese Louise has a smoked cheese and paprika flavour while Chilli Tweet is a mix of chilli and tomato flavour.
Moving onto the popcorns - Chocolate Crackle which comes in a a 55g bag has 230 calories. These are sugary treats that chocolate lovers will enjoy. The popcorns are drizzled with chocolate flavoured toffee. Sweet Cinnamon Spice comes in a 25g bag and contains 117 calories. These had a very earthy cinnamon scent and reminded me of Christmas.
My favourite undoubtedly was the Heat 'n Sweet variety which was slightly sweet and a little spicy from the blend of spices used. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sweet 'n Salt was another of my favourites with its perfect balance of salt and sweetness. Both these flavours were very addictive and have become a part of my regular buys.
The last flavour we tried was Wasabi glaze, which we did not enjoy much. The popcorn itself was a pale green colour and had a mustard taste. Both myself and Mr. H are not fans of mustard and hence we did not like this one. But if you enjoy Wasabi, you will like this one. Overall, it is an interesting range of products and healthier than traditional high calorie snacks.
Metcalfe's Skinny products are available all over the UK at major retailers like Tesco, Sainsbury's, Ocado, Greggs, WHSmith, Primark, Selfridges and Waitrose amongst others. You can also order it online at: http://metcalfesskinny.com/
