Do we need sun protection only in summers? Most would say 'yes' and a large percentage of people normally wouldn't use sun protection in winters. While the UV levels are indeed low in winters compared to summers, skin is damaged due to sun in all seasons. Until a few years ago, even I used to assume that sun protection is not needed in winters. Now, I am better informed and take care of my skin.
One of the main problems with sunscreens is that they are sticky, greasy and have a weird smell. I always find it bothersome to slather them on. So, I moved onto skincare products that also offer sun protection. And my go-to product for the past couple of months has been the Vitage Skin Defence SPF 30. Vitage is a British brand and they have an advanced antioxidant skincare line.
The Vitage Skin Defence SPF 30 is a powerful antioxidant skincare product that also has broad spectrum UV protection properties, i.e. it provides both UVA and UVB protection. It protects the skin against sun damage and at the same time hydrates and moisturises it. Some of its key ingredients are Aloe Vera leaf juice, Barbados Cherry fruit extract and Bitter Cherry extract. It also contains Sodium hyaluronate which is a powerful humectant i.e. it attracts and holds on to water thereby making it an effective skin moisturizer.
Vitage Skin Defence SPF 30 has a light texture and on application gives a matte finish. So, if you are a makeup person, you can use this as a makeup base. I normally use it on my face, neck and hands. It is not greasy or sticky like sunscreens and smells pleasant as well - mild fragrance. The feature that I like the most though is its texture and absorption. It sinks into the skin and you will not notice any residue. Nothing at all. All you see is supple moisturised skin.
If you are looking for a sunscreen, then I would suggest you try this instead. Not only does it have sun protection, it also offers moisturising and anti-ageing benefits. A 100ml tube cost £22.00 and can be purchased from major salons across UK.
