Belvoir, based in the lovely Lincolnshire countryside, have been making cordials, pressés and fruit crushes since the 1970s. All their drinks contain natural ingredients. Local spring water is used in their delicious drinks. Belvoir's cordials are made using the same traditional methods that were used ages back and contain masses of pressed fresh fruits, freshly-picked flowers and some interesting cooked spices to give the cordial the delicious taste that they have. The cordials can be diluted up to 1:10 ratio. There are absolutely no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives added. It's all natural!
Belvoir very kindly sent me some samples of their cordials and we have been enjoying and relishing the delicious drinks over the past few weeks. Read on for the different flavours that we enjoyed.
Elderflower cordial: This one is a wonderful option for the non-alcoholics. Makes a pleasant and refreshing drink with some sparkling water. I feel this one would be lovely when served in a bbq party in summers. Wish it was summer already!
Honey, Lemon & Ginger Cordial: Perfect for the winter months. This one is an awesome blend of real honey, pressed lemon juice with a spicy ginger kick. The best part about this cordial is that it tastes wonderful both cold and warm. We also tried it as a mixer with Vodka with equally good results. One of the favourites from the lot.
Spiced Winter Berries Cordial: A wonderfully tasting cordial made with real Elderberry, Orange and Blackberry juices. This one also has a warming mix of winter spices like cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg and makes a lovely non-alcoholic alternative to mulled wine. I enjoyed this one a lot. Mr.H found it a wee bit sweet to his liking. He much preferred the Honey Lemon & Ginger Cordial.
Apple, Plum and Cinnamon Cordial: This was an interesting combination, something that I had not tried earlier. It is a lovely blend of crisp real pressed apple juice with sweet California prune plum juice and a hint of cinnamon. Surprisingly Mr.H loved this one more than me. It went well with his dark rum.
Cranberry Cordial: I seem to love Belvoirs Berry Cordials a lot :) This was again one that I loved more than Mr. H did. It is a delicious and medium dry blend of Cranberry, Blueberry and Blackcurrant juices with a wonderful taste. Works well as a warm drink and also when mixed with alcohol. I can also see this one as a summer winner. A dash of sparkling water or lemonade will make this a wonderful summer drink as well.
Spiced Apple and Ginger Cordial: Though this looks like it would make a good cooling summer drink, I am enjoying it in the winters because it contains ginger and cinnamon. And these 2 ingredients are best enjoyed in the colder months according to me :) With a dash of alcohol it makes for a lovely winter warmer; just what one would need on a cold evening.
Thank you, Belvoir for sending across these lovely winter warmers. Enjoyed all the variants. Readers, if you are tempted to try out these cordials or other drinks from Belvoirs range, then you can order online at belvoirfruitfarms.co.uk/shop/ or pick up the drinks from Ocado, ASDA, Waitrose or Tesco.
