Currently my hair is a little longer than shoulder length and I am having to wash it almost everyday because the scalp is getting pretty oily even though the ends remain dry. This frequent washing is making the ends even more drier. Mr. H also has an overly oily scalp and washes his hair daily. So, when I received the Leonor Greyl Bain TS shampoo(200ml, 27€) which is a balancing shampoo for oily scalp and dry ends, we both were eager to put it to test.
According to Leonor Greyl, the shampoo purifies and cleanses oily scalp with conditioning properties. It contains vitamins and plant proteins with conditioning properties that repair dry lengths and ends while giving shine and volume.
The shampoo is pale yellow and slightly opaque with a citrusy fragrance(due to the presence of lime tree oil). If you use it on a daily basis like me, then you just need one application to cleanse the hair. It does not foam much as it does NOT contain SLS. The shampoo is also free from parabens and silicone. I use just one application and massage it lightly with circular motion on the scalp. There is not much foaming but I am not fussy about it as long as the shampoo is doing its intended job well. So, how has the Leonor Greyl shampoo fared? For my oily scalp it has worked well; the scalp does not get greasy quickly and the ends stay smooth and conditioned. Which means that I can now go for 1 extra day between shampooing. Mr. H has extremely oily scalp compared to me and even after using the shampoo, he still has to wash his hair daily. However, he has noticed that his hair doesn't go limp due to greasiness for the better part of the day. This can be attributed to the anti-sebum properties of yeast and the anti-perspirant benefits of sage. Both these ingredients work together to purify and cleanse oily scalps.
To sum it up both of us are quite happy with the shampoo. You can check out the entire Leonor Greyl range here - leonorgreyl.com
