Equinox Kombucha is a family business based in West Yorkshire. The founders started out by brewing the drink in a small flat but then due to the growing demand and love for the drink, the brand Equinox Kombucha was born. The Kombucha Tea is brewed with the finest organic Fair trade Chun Me green tea which is a very popular Chinese leaf tea. Organic raw cane sugar and organic pure pressed ginger juice are also used. The drink is a 'living tea' as it contains the Kombucha culture which is basically a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). This living culture feeds on the cane sugar and the tea resulting in a fermentation process which brings about the distinct taste of the Kombucha drink.

Original: Ingredients: Filtered water, Organic Raw Cane sugar, Organic Fair Trade Chun-Mee green tea, Organic Kombucha Culture.
Ginger: Ingredients: Filtered water, Organic Raw Cane sugar, Organic Fair Trade Chun-Mee green tea, Organic pure pressed ginger juice, Organic Kombucha Culture.

Taste and flavour
One sip and I knew I was going to love this drink. The fermentation process makes the drink fizzy and it has a taste somewhat similar to Palm toddy, though not as strong as that. If you have travelled to Sri Lanka or India, you might have tried the local toddy and this drink reminds me of that. However, Equinox Kombucha has less than 0.5% alcohol in each 275ml bottle - making it non-alcoholic. I loved the taste of all the 4 variants, but the 'Original' wins hands down. Mr. H loved the Ginger flavoured one because of the kick that ginger provides. If you look at the ingredients list above, you will notice that it is filled with goodness and not chemical nasties as in most other energy drinks. So, if you are looking for a healthier alternative to an energy drink, then Equinox Kombucha is for you.
Caffeine consumed late noon / evening tends to keep me awake at night usually. The Kombucha drink is however caffeine free, so I can enjoy it in the evening as well :)
