The Bluebeards Revenge is a premium range of quality male grooming, shaving and skincare products designed for 'real men'. I was recently sent the Bluebeards Revenge 'Deluxe' Kit which has been put to test by Mr.H. Normally the one to use a shaving foam or opt for dry shaving using an electric shaver, Mr. H was excited to give the old fashioned way of shaving a go. The royal blue packaging with a big skull and cross-bones is a cool idea. It imparts a kind of rugged masculine feel to the product; going well with the brands theme line - 'The Ultimate Shaving Experience for Real Men'.
One of the unique features of 'The Bluebeards Revenge' is that their products contain Decelerine, a mixture of active ingredients that delay hair growth thereby reducing the frequency of shaving and at the same time providing a recovering effect to the skin. In addition their range is also paraben free.
The 'Deluxe' shaving kit comprises of 5 items:
- Pre Shave Oil
- Shaving Cream
- Post Shave Balm
- "Doubloon" Brush and
- An Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
The pre-shave oil helps to moisturise the beard before you apply the shaving cream. Just a little bit is needed to massage into the beard before lathering up the shaving cream. The cream's performance was quite good. The lather was rich and creamy and gave a good shave with no razor drag. The wooden bristle shaving brush comes with gold lettering and the trademark skull and crossbones. It was easy to apply the cream with this. Having used a shaving brush after ages, according to Mr.H it does make a difference. Normally he just slathers on the shaving foam, but the shaving brush/shaving cream combo makes the facial hair stand up resulting in a better shave with lesser nicks.
The aftershave balm contains Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera which helps to nourish the skin after shaving. Though the balm is soothing, it did sting a little, probably because Mr.H has sensitive skin. The anti-perspirant deodorant is a good addition to the kit. For a roll-on the fragrance is perfect and this is now a part of Mr.H's gym bag.
Overall, Mr.H is very happy with the 'Deluxe' kit. It gives him a clean and painless shave with no nicks or bumps.
