Coconut oil has been used for ages in hair and skin care. I have myself used Coconut oil infused with Gooseberry extracts for my hair for a long time. However, this is the first time I have used Coconut oil for my lips. Coconut oil offers loads of health benefits when consumed internally. And when applied externally, it offers a protective antibacterial layer, soothes the skin and acts as an excellent skin conditioner. No wonder, the Dr Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Lip Serum claims to provide ultra rich hydration to the lips.
The lip serum comes in a cute little tube and has a lovely fragrance. Even before I applied the serum onto the lips, I was hooked. The fragrance instantly transported me to a warm tropical island. I could imagine myself with a Pina Colada in hand lounging on a beach bed. The fragrance is fruity like a blend of coconut and pineapple. The serum is slightly thick in consistency, the first few applications I had to squeeze real hard to get the product out. But then it was fine. After a few applications it started flowing smoothly. Once it comes in contact with the lips or skin it begins to melt and was easy to apply. It forms a nice protective layer on the lips and keeps them hydrated for a long time. The lip serum smells sweet but thankfully doesn't have a sweet taste, else I would have been constantly licking my lips :) I also used the serum on some dry areas around my nose in the night and it keep the flakiness away. The serum is richly hydrating and effective.
If I could improve one thing about the lip serum, it would be the staying power of the fragrance. I wish it stayed on for longer than it does.
I checked out Dr Organic's website and they have lip balms/serums in many other ranges - Rose Otto and Pomegranate are two which I would love to try. Have you tried any of the products in the Dr. Organic range? If so, which one is your favourite?
*PR sample.
