Who doesn't want to look good with soft healthy skin and equally soft manageable tresses? And in my quest to achieve this, I keep trying various products. Some work, some don't. Look into my bathroom or skincare cupboard and you will find lots of products - different kinds of shampoos and conditioners, hair oils, serums, loads of scrubs, soaps, shower gels, moisturisers, hand creams and some cosmetics. Yes, the cosmetics are in minority compared to skin and hair care products.
I am not asking you to stock up on products like me, but what I am telling you is about some must-have products that are good to stock. You may opt for any brand(whatever suits your skin and budget). The list below is just a rough guide based on my current favourites.
Grooming and skin care essentials
- Cleanser: A good cleanser is a must. You could try the Body Shop Seaweed Pore Cleanser.
- Exfoliator or Scrub: regular exfoliation is must to get rid of dead cells and reveal smoother skin. I use the TBS Strawberry Body Polish frequently. And currently I am also using Mr. H's Audaca Scrub for my T-zone.
- Body wash or Soap: there's so much to choose from in this category based on fragrance, type (gel or cream), handmade and organic. Opt for whatever you feel will suit your type of skin the most. At present I have kept aside all my shower gels and creams and am enjoying the Heyland and Whittle soap collection.
- Shampoo and Conditioner: This would again depend on your hair type, colour and whether your hair has been chemically treated. I am currently using the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo and the L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-gloss Crystal Sparkling Conditioner.
- Hair masque: I like to pamper my hair weekly with a good masque that will deeply condition and moisturise my dry hair. Currently using the Boots Ingredients Coconut & Almond Intensive Hair Mask.
- Moisturiser: Currently I am using SteamCream for my face and the Nivea moisturiser with Almond Oil for body. This is one area, where I like to keep trying new things. So, while out shopping or while browsing through websites, the first thing that I head to is the Moisturiser section.
- Sunscreen: A good sunscreen is an absolute must. Pick one that suits your skin.
- Deodorant: Who doesn't like to smell like roses? I have an array of deodorants and body mists and like to keep changing what I use. Currently am using the Dove Compressed Deodorant and one of Avon's body mists.
- Face Masks: I just can't have enough of these. I feel it is a must to have some 'Me' time every week and relax with one of your favourites masks on :) Some of my favourites are the: Montagne Jeunesse Prickly Pear Peel Off and the MJ Dark Chocolate Deep Cleansing Mud Masque.
- Epilator and Tweezer: To flaunt those sexy smooth legs, use an epilator or use a good quality razor/shave gel. I used to epilate, but currently am using the Remington i-Light IPL hair removal system.
